Taking the law into your own hands is never a great idea -- especially when the person you're trying to stop happens to be the police.

North West Motorway Police shared the following video on their official Twitter account on Monday. It shows dashcam footage from one of their vehicles.

"Don't take matters into your own hands and decide who uses the hard shoulder," the police captioned the video. "Driver didn't realise it was a liveried X5."

From the sounds of it, the lorry driver will probably be regretting their decision.
